As most of you know April is cancer awareness month, and I can say that I know many friends and family who have been effected by cancer. It is no respecter of persons. Many of you probably know of someone who has dealt with the challenges of cancer.
A few months ago, my friend and fellow musician Mike Sangermano was diagnosed with Leukemia (pictured above at Rush University Hospital in Chicago, IL). He has gone through three chemo treatments and is about to start his fourth next week on April 9, 2012. The chemo is probably the toughest part of it all because it totally wipes his immune system. He receives blood transfusions to help, but it makes him very weak. While this has been going on he has been unable to work, but if things go well, this may be his last chemo to hopefully but this cancer into remission. The great thing about it is Mike’s attitude and trust in God. He know that no matter what it is a win-win situation. There is no cure for cancer yet, but there is a cure for death–Jesus Christ. Mike has a wonderful story about how all of this has drawn him closer to God and strengthen his faith. I have been touched and inspired by his story. I want to do everything I can to help him get back on his feet as he fights through this. I am asking for your help. I would like to ask for you, first and foremost, to pray for Mike’s leukemia to go into remission. Please feel free to share this with your family and friends. Also, please pray for his financial situation right now. The medical costs, living expenses, and lack of support from government programs (food stamps, disability, etc.) has made this a very stressful environment for him to navigate through. He has a very positive attitude, but I think we all can help by lifting him up in prayer. Along with that, I would like to ask you to consider donating at least $5 to his trust fund via the PayPal Donate button below–as part of the “High Five for Mike” Campaign. We have set up a trust fund with the IRS and his local bank to accept payments to help him through this time as he recovers and is unable to work. We really believe God is taking him through this to help others, and when he is better he would like to travel and share his story to inspire others. Would you join me in giving Mike a high five of encouragement through prayer and donations? Simply click the donate button below to make a secure donation via PayPal–you do NOT have to have a PayPal account to do so. Thanks so much for your time and consideration. It can and will make the difference in his life and in yours. “A generous man will prosper, and he who refreshes others will himself be refreshed.” (Proverbs 11:25 )
Hi Mike, So sorry to hear about your illness. This is the first I am hearing about it. I will be praying for you and for the medical staff that is taking care of you. I pray the Lord will give them wisdom to do the best things for you to get you into remission. And may the Lord wrap his arms around you and comfort you during this time. God Bless You Mike! And God Bless your friend who set up this High Five Campaign for you!
